The Terrordome - 5.18.10

Philadelphia, PA

w/ RVIVR, Slingshot Dakota, Kudrow, Senders, and The Measure (SA)

i have four shows to post right now, so i'll try and keep em short n' sweet.

i was really excited about this show for a while. RVIVR's new full length is one of the best pieces of music i've ever heard. the lyrics are really poignant and true to life. i was way too excited to jump and scream along to the lyrics i had been holding very close to my heart in the past couple of weeks.

the first band to play was Senders from Florida. they hopped on the show last minute, but i was very surprised with how good they were for a "hop on" band. i haven't had a chance to check out their music further, but it has been in the back of my mind since i saw them. i'm excited for when i actually have time to sit down and take a listen.

the second band was the Measure (SA). i was really excited to see the Measure again. i saw them at the Terrordome a few months ago, and i was floored by their live show. i bought both of their LPs that night. this time around they were even better. when they played the song "Drunk by Noon" it was heeeavenly. i highly suggest getting into this band, you won't regret it.

since Kudrow's drummer (the infamous Dave Garwacke) was late, RVIVR played next. all the expectations i had for RVIVR's live show were fulfilled. they played a little faster than the record, which is always a quality i love. while their personalities honestly seemed to clash a little bit with their lyrical content, they really know how to portray their songs in a way that perfectly represents the record. i am bummed i didn't get to go to a few of their shows like i planned, but i hope they come back around really soon.

next was Kudrow. i have been into Kudrow's 7" for a while now, but i had yet to see them live. they quickly moved to a band that i was kind of "eh" about into a band that i would love to see 10 more times after seeing them. jeff rosenstock is such a funny guy when playing live in bands. he recited a lot of false Lost updates considering it was the second to last episode everyone at the show was missing that night. one of them was "jacob is revealed to actually be jacob the snacob?!" good guys, good music.

lastly was Slingshot Dakota. if you haven't seen Slingshot Dakota live, you do not understand how powerful a band can actually be. Slingshot has slowly moved from one of my favorite bands to THE best live band i've ever seen. they have such passion and commitment to loving what they do. i think this was my favorite set i've experienced of Slingshot considering they were surrounded by so many close friends, and we were all screaming the words at each other and fulfilling the emphasis on loving life that Slingshot so often displays.

a group of us headed to Ed's Pizza after the show for some tasty vegan slices. this new Daiya cheese craze is pretty amazing. it's super good. i'm glad there's a decent vegan cheese to enjoy... and i hope it keeps evolving. HOMIES FO LYFE.

stay sweaty!
