Chris Regec's House - 5.9.10

w/ Paramedic!, Spraynard, and Paxton

if i had to move out of west chester for whatever reason the first place i would move would be lehigh valley. for the last 10 or so years, the kids in the valley have shaped such a welcoming community and the best part is that they show no signs of slowing down. many of them have moved to different places, but they all always come back to play shows and hang out and keep the scene's heart beating. it is an amazing thing to witness and a solid example to us all of how DIY can bring so many people together and create positive change.

this particular show was at Chris Regec's house who runs Square of Opposition Records and put out our split 7" with Paramedic. if you've never met Chris, think of the nicest person you know, then multiply it by a zillion, and you're not even close to how heavenly Chris Regec is. we were all impressed by his house. partly for its perfect location and size for punk shows, and mostly for the price of the rent (which was cheap as hell). he was also right next to a wegman's which is known for some tasty vegan goodies.

the first band was Chris' band Paxton. it was only their second show, but they play some extremely catchy pop punk similar to Descendents. the guitar parts were bouncy and fun while Chris played some fast and catchy beats to match. while Charlie claims Chris needs to "Travis Barker" his drumming a bit, i thought for now it did just fine.

those guys in Spraynard were next. they sucked. just kidding, they're the best band in the world. just kidding, they seriously sucked. here's those weirdos' set:

Stickin Together is What Good Waffles Do
Jay's Cafe
Do You Guys Even Like U2?
Airports and Prank Phone Calls
Baggles
Damn, Julie. Damn.

lastly was Paramedic!. now, i've been telling Paramedic! for a few days how much i like one of their new songs that they call "Zorro." i like said song so much that i attempted to film it. i decided to only film up to the end of the first chorus considering my battery was dying and i had a... feeling... something else film-worthy was going to happen. here's that a preview of that soon to be world wide hit:

before their last song, the Jordan/Paramedic! rumble met a brand new high. Chris Regec even tried to defuse the whole situation. the whole experience really shook my core. it only empowered my belief that violence serves no purpose in punk rock. that being said, here's the whole bloody mess:

this weekend was a very humbling experience. i'm so glad to be a part of something so honest and powerful and unexplainable. just as i feel i've exhausted every pathway to explore in the scene and met every punk kid, weekends like this happen and remind me that this music will forever present new positive aspects to my life. and just for the record, thank you to Paramedic, Yo Man Go, Square of Opp, and the LV scene in general for absolutely giving me a purpose to keep pushing for some sort of change.

stay sweaty!
